Swim Safe
The Grand Strand is blessed with 60 miles of wide, sandy, and generally very safe beaches – perfect for the many visitors who come each year. Responsible swimming requires paying attention to the lifeguards, the weather, understanding the surf and the variety of conditions. Always pay attention to the Lifeguard’s flags.
If you are caught in a rip current, the biggest mistake is to swim against it. The best course of action is to stay calm, swim parallel to the shoreline, then back towards the beach. If you can’t escape, float on your back or tread water.
Have fun at the beach and remember to swim safely and obey the rules of the lifeguards.
